This sounds very similar to my feelings with my ex-wife, but she is autistic. It's quite common for neurotypical people to feel confused around autistic people and to see them as cold and cruel. It's also common for neurotypical people to see autisitc behaviours and survival strategies as narcissistic.

Is it possible that your husband is autistic rather than narcissistic?
