Thanks for clarifying this, it’s reassured me that I’m making the right decision staying in my current role. I’ve worked as a software support analyst for 7 years and I like (sometimes love) my job. Because I work closely with software engineers, I’ve often thought about moving into development because of the better pay and possibly better problems to solve. I do love solving puzzles but my work is sometimes very repetitive and data-entry focused, which can get boring. But I’m a very visual person (artist in my spare time) and the abstract, non-visual part of software development puts me off. I also like helping customers directly and ‘saving the day’ for them sometimes!
