Sorry to say this, but your immediate response to an article about the sensitive topic of maternal abandonment is to complain about your children - for this reason, I suspect that your actions are most likely the reason that your adult child no longer wants to interact with you. I know from hard experience with my own mother who lacks self-awareness.

Neglectful or overly narcissistic mothers often blame the children for their own failures as a parent. It's usually guilt driving this anger. Perhaps you are the very small minority of mothers who are blameless, but it seems unlikely.

My advice is to get therapy. If you are unwilling to do this, you are the problem here unfortunately.
