Same here, when I became a father (and recently through therapy) I realised that the child is never to blame. I’ve spent my whole life until recently carrying the shame of being the ‘naughty’ child, but all I was doing was reacting to my environment (I used to misbehave so I could get my mother’s attention).
I believe there is no such thing as a ‘bad’ or ‘naughty’ child and these labels are used by parents who are unable (or unwilling) to get to the root of the child’s behaviour.
