Dave doesn’t have to be part of the group he’s joking about, just know something about it. He clearly doesn’t know much about the topics he chose for his special, which made his jokes unfunny. For example, his joke about identifying as a chinese man is a very old joke and meme (identifying as an attack helicopter). Hearing old, bad jokes already made by other comedians (and memes ffs!) just makes his comedy bad. It’s his job as a comedian to create original jokes that make people laugh, which he failed at in this special.
