I'm surprised you can have such detachment between the work or art and the person who created it. These two aspects are inherently linked. Art doesn't come from some magical place outside the artist. So yes, the artist's behaviour changes the way I perceive the art they create.

You talk about perfection. I never asked for it. Gaiman's behaviour is on the opposite end of perfection. There's a difference between being a flawed person and a diabolical person. Gaiman is the latter. Your refusal to accept this says as much about you as it does me.

There's nuance here that you're completely missing. For example, I love 'On the Road', but it's clear that the characters (and real life men involved) treat women horribly - it changes my original reading as I mature and perceive this aspect. I still love the book, but my experience of it changes over time.

Art is subjective, our interpretations of it change over time. Your belief that art is an unchanging monolith suggests that you don't engage with art very deeply, or think about it critically.

Edit: All the comments arguing with me are from men, that tells me a lot. What skeletons are all you guys hiding in your closets that you'd come here defending a serial abuser? You're telling on yourself. I've made many mistakes in my life, but I'm making up for them by becoming a better person and asking others to do the same. But instead you argue with me. It's depressing.
