I’m really impressed with your approach, it’s a follow from me.

I’ve been wrestling with similar concerns at my current job — the practices and procedures are not necessarily unethical but rather half-baked. There seems to be a culture of doing just enough to get things off the ground but not following through so we have efficient, easy-to-use systems in place. It’s chaotic a lot of the time, and really gets me down sometimes. The customer suffers in the end and I find that frustrating.

I’ve been able to put in place several processes that help everyone but I realised last year that I cannot do it alone. I was actually signed off for stress due to burn-out last year. Since then, I have the approach of ‘sometimes you just have to let things break.’ It’s not ideal.

I should leave my current job but it allows me to work from home, which means I get to spend a lot of time with my 3-year-old son. When he starts school, I’m gone.
