If your daughter was 14 years old in 2017 (when this article was added to Medium), then she is not a millenial, she is Gen Z. Millenials have it tough, but Gen Z are already having it worse, with Covid-19 happening at crucial stages of their education, a looming financial crash and mass unemployment in the coming years, just as many Gen Z-ers are entering the job market. And let’s not mention environmental issues in the next few decades (once all the Boomers who caused this mess are safe in their graves). This generation is fucked.

Boomers blame everyone else and Gen X bury their heads in the sand. Millenials are just running to stay in the same place. Gen Z will be the generation to suffer the most and fight back the hardest, just look at Greta Thunberg for inspiration. The best Millenials can do is reduce their consumption (and expectations), save as much as possible and don’t make things too hard for Gen Z.
