I hear you, my point is that hitting a child is unlikely to help and would almost certainly hurt (physically and mentally), as expected when a person is hit by another person. Or are we living is a parallel universe where physical violence is somehow healing? That's a rhetorical question of course.

We can call it 'spanking' or 'smacking' or 'discipline' but those terms all refer to the act of physical violence against the most vulnerable people among us, which is pretty horrifying to me. I was 'spanked' every day of my life as a child, it didn't change my behaviour for the better and gave me lifelong trauma that I have to deal with on a daily basis.
