I agree with you, money is the main reason want a job and I dislike the dishonesty of having to pretend that a job is a ‘passion’ or ‘calling’ to convince interviewers that I’m a good candidate.
There’s very few people who see their job as their ultimate passion — most people just want an interesting job that pays ok and isn’t too stressful.
I like puzzle-solving and I get satisfaction from helping customers or colleagues, but if I was rich, I wouldn’t be interviewing for a job, I’d be doing my own hobbies and interests instead. I don’t want to make money out of my hobbies (too stressful), so I need a job!
But I did find this artice very interesting though, not complaining about that.
