I agree, it's weird taking the 'Not all men' position. Reading about women's experiences on Medium over the years has been very enlightening and horrifying.

I'm pretty sure most men have experienced violence from other men. Men and the patriarchy are the problem. When I bring this up with some men online, they react with minimising and sometimes anger.

I must shamefully admit my very first comment here on Medium in 2019 was a 'not all men' emotional reaction. Then I read more and thought about it, and apologised to the commenter a few weeks later. If I can do it, so can other men.

Lots of men like to believe they are the more logical, emotionally-balanced gender. Then they react with extreme emotion whenever challenged. It would be funny if it wasn't so pitiful.

I regularly see the familiar woman-haters and rape apologists on Medium articles (written by women) again and again. Some guys refuse to learn.
