I agree, if forgiveness must always be given, then it makes it somewhat meaningless. On the other hand, if I choose to forgive certain actions but not other actions, then my forgiveness has more value in those instances where I applied it.
Reading this article, I kept thinking of the Patti Smith line “Jesus died for somebody’s sins but not mine”. Not sure if that’s relevant to this conversation but it’s stuck in my head!
