Good article, I agree in principle but in practice, I'm going to continue to buy the majority of stuff from Amazon for a couple of reasons:

Most items I want or need are not stocked in local shops — believe me, I regularly try and almost always fail. I live in a city. I have almost never been able to find the things I want in shops, despite living in multiple cities and towns in my lifetime. When I first started using Amazon in 2001, it was life-changing - suddenly I was able to buy all the obscure books and music I was searching for. I never want to go back to the dark days of being reliant on shops.

We put too much emphasis on individual actions and not enough on political action. In other words, my miniscule contribution to stop using Amazon is almost worthless. However, I vote for parties that push for corporation tax, better working conditions etc. That is as much as anyone can or should do. Amazon is not going out of business anytime soon, they have plenty of customers.

I’m not going to make my life harder and diminish my choices because people keep voting for political parties that refuse to stamp down on these corporations (eg. the Tories are pro-business and will never enforce better behaviour from corporations, which is why I will NEVER vote Tory). Corrupt corporations are a bigger issue than individual action. Furthermore, your focus on individual action distracts us from the bigger and messier issue — some of our political parties are not working to protect workers, environments or taxes. That’s their job, not mine.
