Good advice, I'm struggling with the part where I get to know what someone's core values are - how do you find this out? The obvious answer is to ask, but I think it would come across as odd to ask someone 'How do you handle difficult situations?' - then they'd have to be self-aware enough to give accurate answers, which often does not happen. So another way to find out is to see the person in action, for example, see them in a difficult situation - but then that might take months of spending time together before you actually have a chance to see this.

So my point is that while I agree with the theory of matching core values, in reality it seems difficult to find out if your values match with another person. But I acknowledge I need to work on defining my own core values, so this might be one reason I’m struggling discovering other people’s values.

Tips and suggestions welcome, I struggle to form compatible romantic partnerships, I'm working on it.
