Breast milk only benefits health in the first two years of life - after that, there's little benefits compared to formula. I feel that this pressure to breast feed is framed as a lifetime benefit, which is incorrect by my understanding.

Mothers are not doing their babies a disservice if they use formula - it's better for babies overall if they are well-fed (breast or formula) and their mother is not completely stressed out trying to breast feed. Motherhood is hard enough without this extreme pressure to breast feed. Our patriarchial, capitalist society is not well-designed to support mothers and all the 'natural' elements of mothering, such as breast feeding, so let's just give mothers a break for once.
