Another great article, I’m reading through yours today! I completely agree with you on the issue of spanking (or to give it it’s accurate name — hitting).
I was ‘spanked’ nearly every day for years, from the age of 2 to 10. It did not help control my disruptive behaviour or strong emotions at all, but it did a good job of teaching me one thing — don’t trust my parents. What a terrible lesson for a child to learn.
Parents who insist of spanking their children should ask why the child is behaving the way they are and do their best to address the root of the behaviour. Spanking is ineffective at best, and harmful at worst.
